Who are you?
My name is Nate, and I love to play golf. In fact, I really, really, love to play golf. I love to play with my friends, but I love golf so much that I also love to go play alone. Which means I often end up getting paired with a threesome of strangers. Hence the name: Random Fourth.
My dad started taking me to the course with him when I was a kid, and I've been playing ever since. These days I have roughly a 5 handicap, which is the best I've ever been. My goal is to get down to about a 2, so I can enter some mid-amateur tournaments.
I've moved and travelled around a lot for work, so I've spent time in cities all around the US. But mostly I've been based in Portland, Austin, and Nashville, so I'll have more to say about golf in those cities.
What is this?
One day I challenged myself to write more. I started trying to write 50-100 words every day. Mostly I wrote about golf, because that's what was on my mind.
My original goal was only to write for myself. But I felt like writing helped me figure a few things out with my game, or at least help me explore what I love so much about golf. So eventually I decided to clean some of it up and publish it here.
How can I follow along?
The first "season" of Random Fourth will run through the early fall, with a new post arriving on the site every two weeks.
